Question 433821: Eugene wants to make a 14% sugar solution. He has already poured 9 fl. oz. of pure water into a beaker. How many fl. oz. of a 32% sugar solution must he add to this to create the desired mixture?
I have tried setting this up and I am having difficulties.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To be 14% sugar, the solution must be 86% water, and the 32% solution is 68% water:
9+.68x=.86(9+x)
9+.68x=7.74+.86x
1.26=.18x
1.26/.18=x= 7 fl.oz. of 32% sugar solution to be added..
