Question 39206: I'm having difficulties with this problem:
"A chemist has a 30% acid solution and a 60% solution already prepared. How much of each of the two solutions should be mixed to form 300 milliliters (mL) of a 50% soltuion?
i have the first set of the 2 equation method - at least from what it sounds like i'd be doing that as .3x + .6y = 300mL

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Equation:
30%28300-x%29%2B60x=50%28300%29
9000-30x%2B60x=15000
30x=6000
x=200 300-200=100
Hence, for 30% about 100 mm should be used and for 60% about 200 mm should be used.
Paul.
