Question 389647: Last one...*smiles*
"Bubble Lights: These old-fashioned lights use the heat from a light bulb to make methylene chloride boil, thus providing bubbles. The company that manufactures these lights can only purchase 100% methylene chloride, but due to the dangerous characteristics of the chemical, they have to dilute it with distilled water to make a 75% methylene chloride solution. Then they add a dye to color the chemical before placing it in the tubes...
A. How much water is needed to dilute 4 gallons of 100% methylene chloride to make the 75% solution?"
I got about 1.333333333333333333 gallons...?
And then...
"B. A gallon of 100% methylene chloride costs $221. Distilled water costs the company $0.17 per gallon. If each bulb holds an ounce of fluid, how much does the company have to charge per bulb to break even?
I wasn't sure if they were just talking about 1 gallon of the 75% solution or the 4 gallons...
So, for the 1 gallon of 75% solution, I got about $1.30...
And for the 4 gallons of 75% solution, I got about $1.60...?
(When I was in middle school, I don't remember ever doing any kind of problems like these...oh my goodness...lol...*smiles*)
Thanks for all of your help! *smiles*

If 4 gallons is 75%, then the total solution is 4/0.75 = 5.333 gallons
Add 4/3 gallons of water, = 1.333...
