Let A be the amount of 35% solution, B the amount of 50% solution.

35A%2B50B=40%2810%29=400
Multiply eq. 1 by -50 and add to eq. 2 to eliminate B.
-50A-50B%2B35A%2B50B=-500%2B400
-15A=-100
highlight%28A=20%2F3%29
Then from eq. 1,
20%2F3%2BB=30%2F3
highlight%28B=10%2F3%29

let liter of 35%solution=x
liter of 50% solution= 10-x
35%x+50%(10-x)=40%10

35x+500-50x=400
100=15x

x=100/15 at 35%

10-100/15=50/100 at 50%

second method

ans 2x=20/3
