You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a+ = pounds of $3/lb tea
b = pounds of $2.75/lb tea
given:
(1) a+%2B+b+=+80
---------
%283a+%2B+2.75b%29%2F80+=+2.9
3a+%2B+2.75b+=+2.9%2A80
(2) 3a+%2B+2.75b+=+232
Multiply both sides of (1) by 2.75
and subtract (1) from (2)
(2) 3a+%2B+2.75b+=+232
(1) -2.75a+-+2.75b+=+-+220
.25a+=+12
a+=+48
and, since
a+%2B+b+=+80
b+=+32
The merchant needs 48 pounds of $3/lb tea and
32 pounds of $2.75/lb tea
