You can put this solution on YOUR website!
since we don't have an amount neither for the final solution nor the beginning solution we can't give a specific amount to be added
.12x=.08(x+y)
add x/2 amount
or
y+.88x=.92(x+y)
x=2y or y=.5x
add half of the amount of the 12 % solution to get the 8% solution

How many gallons of pure water must be added to a 12% salt solution in order to obtain an 8% salt solvent?
:
You need to know how much 12% salt solution, assume it is 10 gal
:
Let x = amt of water to accomplish this
:
.12(10) = .08(x+10)
1.2 = .08x + .8
1.2 - .8 = .08x
.4 = .08x
x = .4%2F.08
x = 5 gallons of water required
