You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Fruit salad which costs $3/lb is made by combining sliced peaches which cost $2/lb with sliced bananas which cost $6/lb. Find the number of lb of sliced peaches and sliced bananas required to make 12 lb of fruit salad.
so we will call x number of lbs of sliced peaches and y number of lbs of sliced bananas
2x%2B6y=12%2A3
x%2By=12 now we have to solve this system of equations
x=12-y
2%2812-y%29%2B6y=12%2A3
24-2y%2B6y=36
24%2B4y=36
4y=36-24
4y=12 divide both sides by 4
y=3 so since we said earlier that x=12-y then
x=12-3
x=9
so we need 9 lbs of peaches and 3 lbs of bananas
