{{You work in a factory that makes chocolate chip cookies. Your cookies contain 18% by weight chocolate chips. If your boss tells you that yesterday, the factory used up 300 lbs. of chocolate chips, how many kilograms of cookies did the factory make?}} Found 2 solutions by solver91311, josmiceli:Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
18% of the total weight of the cookies is the chocolate chips, or 300 lbs. Let represent the total weight of the cookies in pounds, then is the weight of the chocolate chips, so you can say:
Solve for by dividing both sides by 0.18 to get the total weight of the cookies in pounds and then do your pounds to kilograms conversion. This will come out to a decimal fraction answer. My advice: Round to the nearest kilogram. The reason being that the given measurement, i.e. the weight of the chocolate chips, was expressed to the nearest pound, and no result calculated based on a measurement should be expressed to a greater precision than the least precise given measurement.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let = pounds of cookies the factory made lbs lb = kg lbs x kg/lb = kg
The factory made 755.983 kg of cookies
