You can put this solution on YOUR website! Soymeal is 12% protein and cornmeal is 6%. How many pounds of each should be mixed together to get 240 pound mixture that is 7% protein?
:
Let x = amt of Soymeal required
The total is given as 240 lb, therefore:
(240-x) = amt of cornmeal required
:
.12x + .06(240-x) = .07(240)
:
.12x + 14.4 - .06x = 16.8
:
.12x - .06x = 16.8 - 14.4
:
.06x = 2.4
x =
x = 40 lb of Soymeal
Then
240 - 40 = 200 lb of corn meal
;
:
Check solution in the equation
.12(40) + .06(200) = .07(240)
4.8 + 12 = 16.8 confirms our solutions
You can put this solution on YOUR website! (protein in soymeal) + (protein in cornmeal) divided by
(soymeal + cornmeal) = % protein in mixture
Call amount of soymeal needed
Call amount of cornmeal needed
40 pounds of soymeal should be mixed with 200 pounds of cornmeal
