Let x = pounds of birdseed; then the pounds of sunflowers is (50-x). The money equation is 0.62x + 0.92*(50-x) = 0.85*50. From the equation, express x and calculate x = = 11.667 pounds of birdseed. ANSWER. 11.667 pounds of birdseed and the rest, (50-11.667) = 38.333 pounds of sunflower.
