Question 1041448: Write the algebraic expresion that is suggested in the word
statement or problem:
John uses a new $50 McDonald's gift card and buys a Big Mac
meal for x dollars. What amount remains on his gift
card after his purchase?
I thought x-50 Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
If represented the amount left on the card after buying a Big Mac, then, given that a Big Mac costs less than $50, there would be a negative amount of money on the card. So let's say that the Big Mac costs five dollars, then $5 minus $50 is -$45. You would have a nice tasty Big Mac and a $45 debt to McDonalds. Absurd in the extreme. Re-think your answer and don't guess this time.
