Question 775668: Hi, I am having troubles with this word problem. I'm not entirely sure if I set the equation right. I don't think so because the equation I did. I have no clue on how to solve it.
The question goes as " A 10-ton truck and a 12-ton truck deliver sand to a concrete mixing plant. If the smaller truck makes 3 trips more than the larger truck, how many trips does each truck make to deliver 140 tons of sand?"
This is the equation I made: Let A= 10 ton trucks trips Let B= 12 ton trucks trip
10A+12B=140
A-3=B
I did a system of equations. I'm not sure if I set the equation correctly. And I am not sure how to solve it from this point. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it! Thanks!
