The number of board feet (b) of lumber in a 2" by 6" board of length L (in feet) is given by the equation
b=8.25/144*L
Determine the number of board feet in 2" by 6" boards of length 12ft, 16ft and 20ft
I am to come up with 3 answers based on the 3 different lengths and I keep getting decimals. I dont think the answer to 12 feet should be .6874992

Question 522528: I am having a hard time with this word problem:The force of attraction between two bodies varies directly with the product of their masses and inversely with the square of the distance between them. The force of attraction is 6 pounds when masses of 64 slugs and 108 slugs are 24 feet apart. Find the force of attraction when two masses are 25 slugs each and 60 feet apart.
I know for varies directly the equation would be x=ky and the inversely is z=k/w my problem is I have a hard time pulling out the numbers and putting them in the right part of the equation.

I converted the 8 hours into minutes. 480 minutes and then I dont know how to proceed.
