Question 9810: An angle and its complement always have the sum of 90 degrees. The sum of the measures of an angle and five times its complement is 298 degrees. What is the measure of the angle.
I came up with: (c = complement, a = angle)
(a + c = 90)
(a + 5c = 298)
a = ?
So combine like terms to make
2a + 6c = 368
And then I get lost, I also feeling that's wrong. Your help is greatly appreciated. An answer as soon as possible would be fanatastic.

when you have 2 unknowns, here your a and c, you need 2 equations to solve them.
The whole point is to combine the 2 equations to get rid of one of the 2 unknowns...you added the 2 equations and still had 2 unknowns... pointless!
Try subtracting one equation from the other. This will remove the a term, leaving just the c, which you can then find
