You can put this solution on YOUR website! A parsec is approximately 3.1 x 10^16 meters. How many meters are there in 4 x 10^5 parsecs?
------------
1 parsec = 3.1 x 10^16 meters
Multiply both sides by 4 x 10^5 to get:
4 x 10^5 parsecs = (4 x 10^5)(3.1 x 10^16) meters
= 12.4 x 10^21 meters
= 1.24 x 10^22 meters
