let us say typing one page is = 1 job
Joe takes 8 minutes for the job
so he does 1/8 of the job in 1 minute
similarly Tyler does 1/12 of the job in 1 minute
So together they will do 1/12 + 1/8 of the job in 1 minute
= (2+3)/24
= 5/24 of the job in 1 minute
so they can type 24/5 pages in one minute
for 50 pages they will take 50 * 24/5 minutes
=240 minutes
