Question 853600: Jason bought a horse that can run 94,080 furlongs per fortnight. He named it Lightning. Steven bought a horse that can run 3.24 rods per second. He named it Beast.
Jason and Steven are going to race the horses on a 1.3 mile track.
You want to predict the winner. Using the given speeds above, how many miles per hour does each horse run? You also want to predict the number of seconds the winning horse will finish ahead of the losing horse.
After researching, I know that 1 furlong equals 40 rods, 1 rod equals 16.5 feet, 1 furlong equals 660 feet, and 1 fortnight equals 14 days.
I know Lightning can run 35 miles per hour, which has been confirmed. After doing additional conversions to find Beast's speed, I believe he runs 36.5 miles per hour??? Based on that answer, my winning horse prediction would be Beast. The other part of the question is by how many seconds will the wining horse win by the losing horse? I don't understand how to approach that.
** Any help is greatly appreciated.**

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Jason and Steven are going to race the horses on a 1.3 mile track.
how fast can each horse run 1.3 miles
r*t =d
35*L=1.3,
36.5*B=1.3
minutes
35*L/60=1.3
36.5*B/60=1.3
B=2.13699, L=2.22857 minutes
seconds
35*L/3600=1.3
36.5*B/3600=1.3
B=128.219, L=133.714 seconds
