Question 764658: Can you please help me solve this equation,
A gasoline pump delivers 2 and one forth gallons of gas per minute. How long will it take to fill a gas tank with a capacity of 18 gallons?
When I solved this problem I first changed 2 and one forth to 9/4. Then I divided 18 by 9/4 to get that it would take four minutes to fill the tank. I am unsure of how to check my answer.

How long will it take to fill a gas tank with a capacity of 18 gallons?

Except 4 min is not the answer, if you divide by a fraction you have to
invert the fraction and multiply
18 * 4%2F9 = 72%2F9 = 8 minutes
you could also cancel the 9 into 18 and get it easier

enter 18 / 2.25 results is 8
