You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x= number of cookies sold
then (145-x)=number of muffins sold
We can now set up a ratio
16 is to 13 as x is to (145-x) and this can be written as follows:
16%2F13=x%2F%28145-x%29 Now we get rid of fractions by cross-multiplying:
16%28145-x%29=13x get rid of parens
2320-16x=13x add 16x to both sides
2320-16x%2B16x=13x%2B16x
2320=29x divide both sides by 29
x=80---------------------------------------number of cookies sold
145-x=145-80=65 ----number of muffins sold

CK
16%2F13=80%2F65 divide right side numerator and denominator by 5
16%2F13=16%2F13
