You can plug in answer choices to see which is best. That would take some time. Or you can set up an equation. For ABC the fee is 24 + .03x where x is the number of minutes. For XYZ it's 12+.05x where x is the number of minutes.


XYZ is a better deal when it's cheaper, or less than, ABC. So solve for x in 12+.05x < 24+.03x (Subtract 12 from both sides and subtract ,03x from both sides.)


.02x < 12 (divide both sides by .02) ---> x < 600
