Establish the variables
x is the larger number
y is the smaller number
...
x-y = 5 ==> difference between is 5
y = 2%2F3(x)==> 2%2F3 of other number, since y is the smaller it will be a fraction of the other number.
...
Substitution
x - %282%2F3%29x = 5
Multiply the entire equation by 3 to remove the fraction
3x - 2x = 15
x = 15
...
x - y = 5, so
15 - y = 5
15 - 5 = y
y = 10
...
