Question 576002: I would please like help on this equation:
One-half of the sum of a number and four is less than 14. What is the number?
I've tried n=number n+4 divided by 1/4 < 14
but I still can't seem to get it right. I'm pretty sure I'm just setting up the problem wrong, but it could be how I'm trying to solve it although I don't think that's the case.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! One-half of the sum of a number and four is less than 14. What is the number?
-----------------------------
Inequality:
(1/2)(x+4) < 14
-----
Multiply both sides by 2:
(x+4) < 28
----
Subtract 4 from both sides:
x < 24
