Let x = the total time spent studying (in minutes)
:
x - x - x - x = 35
Multiply by 60 to clear the denominators, results:
60x - 12(2)x - 3(3)x - 20x = 60(35)
60x - 24x - 9x - 20x = 2100
7x = 2100
x = 2100/7
x = 300 minutes total studying
