Question 515830: Matildabelle found that a quart of milk would serve 4 children or 3 adults. If 16 quarts of milk are available, how much will be left over after 40 children and 12 adults are served?
Answer by BobbyDamiano(3) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! OK,
For the children, the milk would serve 1/4 quart per child.
For the adults, the milk would serve 1/3 quart per adult.
For 40 children, it would be 40 / 4 = 10 quarts of milk
For 12 adults, it would be 12 / 3 = 4 quarts of milk.
Together, it will be 14 quarts of milk for both.
There are 16 quarts of milk available:
16 quarts - 14 quarts = 2 quarts. (solved)
