You can put this solution on YOUR website!
t-shirts = t
shorts = s
t+=+2s and 9t+%2B+14s+=+256
Combine:
9t+%2B+14s+=+256
9%282s%29+%2B+14s+=+256
18s+%2B+14s+=+256
32s+=+256
s+=+8
Plug:
t+=+2s+=+2%2A8+=+16
16 t-shirts and 8 shorts were sold.

Store sold twice as many t-shirts(T) as shorts(S). T-shirts are $9 each and shorts are $14 each. The total amount of money taken in for both was $256. Find the number of each that was sold.
T=2S
COST OF T SHIRTS =9T=9*2S=18S....SINCE T=2S
COST OF S SHORTS =14S
TOTAL COST = 18S+14S=256
32S=256
S=256/32=8
S=8 AND T=2*8=16
