Question 462879: The function H described by H(x)=2.75x+71.48 can be used to predict the height in centimeters of a woman whose humerus is x cm. long. Predict the height of a woman whose humerus is 38 cm. long.
I replaced the x with 38 and I came up with an answer of 4.63 cm which can't be right (her humerus would be longer than she is!) What am I doing wrong? Please help. Thank you.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
It good that you are noticing when your answer does not make sense. This is a trait of a good mathematician (o: (I mean that seriously)
.
You replaced x with 38 cm. (So far, so good...)
.
H(38) = 2.75(38) + 71.48
H(38) = 104.5 + 71.48
H(38) = 175.98
.
The woman's height is 175.98 cm.
.
hope this helps!
