Let x = number of words on the list (this is unknown for now)


Since you "have memorized 12 words on the list" and "that is 2/3's the list", this means that %282%2F3%29x=12. Ie take 2 thirds of x to get 12.



Now multiply both sides by 3 to get 2x=36 (12*3=36)


Now divide both sides by 2 to get x=18 (36/2 = 18)


So there are 18 words on the list.


So two-thirds of 18 is 12.
