You can put this solution on YOUR website! A club is going on a bus trip to NYC to see a Broadway play. The cost per person (C SAY )for the bus rental varies inversely as the number of people going ( N SAY) on the trip. It will cost $31 per person if 50 people go on the trip. How much will it cost per person if 81 people go on the trip?
C IS INVERSELY PROPORTIONAL TO N
HENCE C=K/N...........C=31 AT N=50..SO...
31=K/50....K=31*50=1550
N=81...C=?
C=1550/81=19.14
You can put this solution on YOUR website! First write the variation equation: where: C = cost, n = number of people, and k is the constant of variation. To find the value of k, just substitute the given values of C = $31 and n = 50.
Multiply both sides by 50.
The equation of variation for the cost is:
Now you can find the cost for 81 people by substituting n=81.
It will cost $19.14 per person if 81 people go on the trip.
