If the weights are directly proportional, the ratio (weight on earth):(weight on mars) will always be the same. So, using the data points we are given:
118.75%2F47.5+=+98%2FW
2.5+=+98%2FW
Multiply both sides by W to get it out of the denominator:
2.5%2AW+=+%2898%2FW%29%2AW
Cross out the Ws on the left because they are just multiplying by 1:
2.5*W = 98
Divide both sides by 2.5 to solve for W:

Cross out the 2.5/2.5 and do the division:
