On the third day, they picked up 18 pounds less than on the first day. How many pounds of trash did they pick up on the first day?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If we let x = the first day's trash pickup, we can add the three days worth like this:
x + (x + 39) + (x - 18) = 921 so that
3x + 21 = 921
3x = 900
and
x = 300 lbs
