Question 365736: S = S subscript 0 + V subscript 0 t - 16t^2. Where S represents the objects height off the ground. S subscript 0 is the objects orginial height, V subsript 0 is the initial velocity of the object and t the time that has passed since the object was released. If a ball was launched from the ground ( originial height zero) with the intitial velocity 118 ft per second find the time it will take for the ball to land.
I hope this questions doesnt seem complicated, But ive been working on it for abbout 2 hours and cant come to a solution. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
when the ball lands , S will be zero (just like the start)
___ so t=0 is the 1st solution , but the other solution is the important one

S is zero , S sub0 is zero , V sub0 is 118
___ solve the quadratic (factoring works)
___ you want the non-zero solution

0 = 0 + 118t - 16t^2
