You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Multiply the number of coins times the value of each coin and add the result. In this case, the total value is $6.75, so you have to either write the equation with decimals like this:
.10*d + .25*(d-3) =6.75

OR-- you can change the $6.75 to CENTS, and write it this way 675 cents:
10*d+25*(d-3)=675

From my Homepage, look for my non-traditinal curriculum on the link "Basic, Intermediate, and College Algebra: One Step at a Time." Choose either "Basic Algebra" in Chapter 1 Section 1.09 Introduction to Word Problems and Section 1.10 Part II "Coin Problems. This section is also supported by the "Math in Living Color" pages where many of my execises are solved IN COLOR.

If you like my curriculum, please recommend my website to your friends and relatives. I know a LOT of people have trouble with math, ESPECIALLY with WORD PROBLEMS, so I tried to provide a FREE resource, with LOTS of PRACTICE TESTS with detailed SOLUTIONS, written in a way that "non-math" folks can understand it.
