Question 296654: I got an answer for this but struggling to understnad it it doesnt make complete sense to me, any help would be appreciated.

Phil is making a Starbuck’s ® run for his exhausted Math 105 classes. He is going to buy a combination of Lattes and Cappuccinos. The Lattes cost $4 each and the Cappuccinos cost $3 each. If he needs 30 drinks total and has $100 to spend, how many of each should he buy?

my answer is
1 + c = 30
41 +3c =100
c=20 L=10
I am just unsure if this is correct doesnt seem to make alot of sense to me. Any help in explaining why this is right would be a help to me.
Eric

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1 + c = 30
41 +3c =100
c=20 L=10
----------
Proof:
4*10+3*20=100
40+60=100
Looks good.

You're using "1" instead of "l" but I think you mean lattes, right?
I'll just capitalize.
Your setup is correct.
L+%2B+C+=+30
4L+%2B3C+=100
.
.
.
4%2830-C%29%2B3C=100
120-4C%2B3C=100
-C=-20
C=20
Then
L=30-C=30-20=10
Your answer is correct also.
He can buy 20 cappucinos and 10 lattes if he wants to exactly use $100 and buy exactly 30 drinks. He could also buy 30 cappucinos and have $10 left over.

Yes, those are the same equations I gave a few days ago. Your answer has a slight error in it. The numbers are right.
What doesn't make sense?
Did you actually do the work or did you get it from somewhere else?
