You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Which numbers in the following set are integers?
-1/12
-85
90.78
5
31
Answer: -85, 5, and 31 are integers.
Note: how do you understand this in real life?
Think that what you HAVE or what you GET is positive and
what you GIVE or what you BORROW is negative
And if you are talking only interms of dollars and not interms of fractions of a dollar like quarters etc, you see what I mean, then
-85 out there would mean you owe somebody 85$,
5 meaning +5 is that you have 5$
31 meaning +31 is that you have 31$
Note: why not (-1/2) and 90.78 are NOT integers?
-1/2 according to us is that you owe somebody half a dollar which is not allowed to be considered because our consideration is to talk interms of whole dollars and not in terms of also parts. Similarly 90.78 is according to us 90 dollars and seventy eight cents and in our consideration cents are n't allowed.
