Question 23622: I have the following word problem and I think the answer is 2 but I do not know how to write the equation. Can you help? Thank you.
A car dealer has 22 vehicles on his lot. If 8 of the vehicles are vans and 6 of the vehicles are red and 10 vehicles are neither vans nor red, how many red vans does he have on his lot?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
10 of the 22 are neither vans nor red.
That leaves 12 that may be van, red, or red-vans
8 of the 12 are vans, some of which may be red
That leaves 4 that are strickly red.
But you were told there are 6 red vehicles.
Two of those red vehicles must be vans.
