Question 165582: Bernice has scored a total of 78 points in the past 6 basketball games. There are 2 games remaining and she wishes to average at least 16 points per game for the season. Write an inequality that describes this situation using p for the total points she must score in the next 2 games.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
total of points(p) divided by amount of games(a) gives one the game point avg.
so we are seeking the total of points needed to avg at least 16 in a total of 6+2 games.
p/a=gpa p/8=16 so p=16*8 which is 128. now we want an inequality which describes what must happen over the next 2 games for least 16 points per game avg . We must take 128 and subtract what has already been scored in the 1st 6 games and come up with 50 points being needed to be scored in the next 2 games in order to average at least 16 points per game. therefore p%3E=50 in order for that to become a reality.
