First of all, I had to add the zero for this to work. So double check to make sure this is consistent with your problem.
If it is not, then you should be able to follow my work and be able to repeat it for your needs.
Given:
3x-1%3C0
add 1 to each side:
3x-1%2B1%3C0%2B1
simplify
3x%3C1
divide each side by 3.
***FYI Because 3 is a positive number the inequality sign stays less than. If you were multiplying or dividing by a negative the sign would change and become greater than.
3x%2F3%3C1%2F3
x%3C1%2F3
so any number less than 1/3 will solve this inequality.
