Question 161204: the final grade for a particular course is calculated by dividing total points earned by total points available. there are 120 points available in the first half of the course, and 140 points in the second half of the course. if a student earns 81% in the first half of the course, how many points must the student earn in the second half in order to earn an 80% B final grade?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First half had 120 total points and you got 81%. So you got 120%2A0.81 = 97.2
The total points for the whole year are 120%2B140 = 260
In order to get a full year grade of 80%, you would need to score 260%2A0.8 = 208
Since you already have 97.2 points in the first half, you'll need 208-97.2 = 110.8. Not sure how you get .8 points, so go get 111 in the second half
