Question 160676: I have to figure out how to write an equation to solve a problem. "Tuition is $1250.00 for the first 12 credit hours, $100 for each over 12. There is a lump sum registration fee of 150.0 and a lump sum activity fee of $75.00. books will cost $50 per credit hr and supplies $8.00 per cr hr. I can figure it out but I cannot figure out how to write the equation. I was then asked to calculate if the student attended 14 cr hrs what would the cost be. This is how I solved it.
(12 X 1250) + (2 X 100) + 225 + (58 x 14)=16,237.00. Can you help me write an equation?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let n = credit hours
.
1250 + 100(n-12) + 150 + 75 + 50n + 8n
.
1st term: Tuition is $1250.00 for the first 12 credit hours
2nd term: $100 for each over 12
3rd term:lump sum registration fee of 150.0
4th term: lump sum activity fee of $75.00
5th term: books will cost $50 per credit hr
6th term:supplies $8.00 per cr hr
