Question 1185093: A swimming pool is to be drained. The pool is shaped like a rectangular prism with length 45 ft, width 20 ft, and depth 5 ft. Suppose water is pumped out of the pool at a rate of 250 ft^(3) per hour. If the pool starts completely full, how many hours does it take to empty the pool?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the length of the pool is 45 feet.
the width of the pool is 20 feet.
the depth of the pool is 5 feet.

water is pumped out at 250 cubic feet per hour.

the capacity of the full pool is 45 * 20 * 5 = 4500 cubic feet.

to dully drain the pool, it will take 4500 / 250 = 18 hours.

18 hours times 250 cubic feet per hour = 4500 cubic feet.
