Question 1173522: Suppose you have a rectangle with length 360 units and width 84 units. Each turn, you cut off the greatest possible square from the rectangle. You do so until you have only squares. How many squares will you get?
Answer by ikleyn(52786)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.

First step is to cut (84 x 84) square four times from the original strip.

You will get then four separate squares and the rectangle with dimensions 360-4*84 = 24 units by 84 units, as a remainder.

The second step is to cut (24 x 24) square three times from this strip of 24 x 84 units,

You will get then three separate squares and the rectangle with dimensions 84-3*24 = 24 units by 84 units, as a remainder.

Third step . . .

Now I think that it is a right time for me to stop (!)
At this point, I think that I explained ENOUGHT to you, and you just have an idea what to do next.

Having this idea, the rest is a simple exercise and good entertainment for a young student or an aged person,
who has nothing to do and wants to have some entertainment or to kill his (or her) time . . .
