Question 1172895: The drive wheels on a locomotive are 76 in. in diameter and moving at 210 R.P.M. Determine speed of locomotive in miles per hr.
Wheels are circles.
Pi * diameter = circumference.
3.1416 * 76 = 238.76 = 239 in. = 19.916 = 20 ft.
5280 ft. = mile.
60 min. = hr.
Not sure how to solve.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the first part gives you the inches per revolution
look at the units: in/rev.*rev/min*min/hr*feet/in*miles/feet=miles/hour
then put in the numbers
238.76*210*60 divided by (12*5280)=47.48 mph
