You can put this solution on YOUR website!

The length a of a piece of sheet metal is twice the width b; then, a+=+2b
The difference in length and width is 20+in:
a-b+=+20in
the dimensions are:
a+=+2b ………………………………………………………….(1)
a-b+=+20in………………………………………………………(2)….solve this linear system by substitution
Substitute (1) in (2)
2b+-b+=+20in
b+=+20in………...................the width is 20in
now find the length a
a+=+2b
a+=+2%2A20in
a+=+40in..............the length is 40in
