You can put this solution on YOUR website!
let x = the length of the entire race.
4/5 * x + (2 + 3/5) kilometers.
this is equivalent to 4/5 * x = 13/5 kilometers.
multiply both sides of the equation by 5/4 to get:
5/4 * 4/5 * x = 13/5 * 5/4
simplify to get:
x = 13/4 kilometers.
confirm by taking 4/5 * 13/4 = 13/5 kilometers.
this confirms the the value of x = 13/4 is correct.
the solution is that the entire race is 13/4 kilometers which is equivalent to 3 and 1/4 kilometers.

.

            In my solution, I will use decimals instead of fractions.

4%2F5 = 0.8;    23%2F5 = 2.6.

Let x be the unknown length of the entire race.

Then the equation is

    0.8*x = 2.6.

The solution/(the answer) is

    t = 2.6%2F0.8 = 3.25 kilometers = 31%2F4 kilometers.
