Question 1134629: The reading club has 7 members. In how many ways can the club choose a president and a secretary? And in how many ways can the club choose three members to attend a special program if order doesn’t matter?
I did each question two different ways and different answers by using the notes I got. Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
The answer to the first question is 7*6 = 42 ways.

Notice that in this case THE ORDER DOES MATTER, so we use the permutation formula.

The answer to the second question is C%5B7%5D%5E3 = %287%2A6%2A5%29%2F%281%2A2%2A3%29 = 35.

Notice that in this case THE ORDER DOES NOT MATTER, so the combinations work in this case.
