Equation for total investors

1 x + 1 y = 40 .............1

Equation for amount raised
25 x + 40 y = 1375 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by -40
Multiply (2) by 1
-40 x -40 y = -1600
25 40 y = 1375
Add the two equations
-15 x = -225
/ -15
x = 15
plug value of x in (1)
1 x + 1 y = 40
15 + 1 y = 40
1 y = 25
y= 25
