I deleted my original response.

I misread the problem as saying that the total area of the garden was increased by 100 square meters.

The problem says, instead, that the area for growing fruit was increased by 100 square meters (and, presumably, the total area of the garden stayed the same).

If F and V are the areas devoted to growing fruits and veggies, respectively, then
the new areas for the two types of produce are F+100 and V-100.

If the area for growing fruits increases by 20%, then
1.2F+=+F%2B100
.2F+=+100
F+=+500
The garden currently has 500 square meters for growing fruit.

And if the area for growing veggies decreases by 25%, then
0.75V+=+V-100
100+=+0.25V
V+=+400
The garden currently has 400 square meters fro growing veggies.

So the total garden area is 500+400 = 900 square meters.

Original area for the fruit
F
0.2F=100
F=100%2F0.2
F=100%2F%282%2A%281%2F10%29%29
F=500m%5E2

Original area for vegetables, V
Decreased 25%, corresponding the the change of 100 square meters
0.25V=100
V=400
