You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A rectangular tank, with a base 12" * 14", has a capacity of 189 gallons. Determine tank height.
---------
If you want the height in inches, convert capacity to cubic inches.
189 gal * 1 gal/7.48 cf --> 189/7.48 cubic ft.
---
1 cf = 12*12*12 = 1728 cubic inches.
Capacity = (189/7.48)*1728 cu inches.
-------------
Ht = Cap/Base area = Cap/(12*14)
Ht = (189/7.48)*1728/168
Ht =~ 259.89 inches

A rectangular tank, with a base 12" * 14", has a capacity of 189 gallons. Determine tank height.
a capacity =volume
volume V=length+%2A+width+%2A+height
189=14+%2A+12+%2A+height
189=168+%2A+height
height=189%2F168
height=1.125"
