You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hello! Luckily for you, this is a very simple problem. You need three pieces to write an equation for this one: the cost of tickets (you know), the amount desired (you know), and the number of tickets sold (to be determined!).
If tickets cost $4 and the students desire to make $28,000 our equation will look like this:
4x=28,000
where x is the number of tickets the students sell. Now to solve, we need to isolate the variable x. We can accomplish this by dividing both sides by 4.
28,000/4=7,000.
So, if the students want to make $28,000 off of $4 tickets, they will need to sell 7,000 tickets. Talk about a packed house! :)
