Question 660854: Three penguins, Pesky, Waddles and Tux all went to the Antarctic Amusement Park. The new ride, called the Crevasse, looked very exciting. Unfortunately, there was a weight limit of 110 kg for the ride. All three wanted to ride together but weren’t sure if it was safe. Since the scale can only hold 2 penguins at a time, it was very hard for them to figure out the weight of all 3 together. (Being social birds, they didn’t want to get on the scale alone.) Here is what they found:
Pesky and Waddles weighed 80 kg
Pesky and Tux weighed 56 kg
Waddles and Tux weighed 90 kg.
Can they all ride the Crevasse together?

Question 665186: Hello,
I could really use some help solving this word problem I have on my homework. The word problem is:
"In triangle XYZ, angles X and Y have the same measure. The sum of the measure of angles Y and Z is 100°. How many degrees are there in each of the three angles?"
So far, I have written down that
X = Y
and
Y + Z = 100°. I know that all the angles in a triangle add up to 180° so I know that my equation will = 180°.
I'm having trouble coming up with an equation to solve this problem. Once I get that, I can finish the rest of the poem easily.
Thank you for your help in advance!
